This beetle only attacks Ash Trees. Our Certified Arborist can determine if you have Ash trees in your yard at no cost to you. We can also provide cost effective solutions for dealing with this pest. The adult beetle does little harm to the tree. The larvae of the beetle cause damage by tunneling under the bark and disrupting the flow of water and nutrients in the tree.
An Ash tree will show signs of an invasion by thinning of the crown. That is, there will be fewer leaves than normal. Also, “D” shaped exit wounds on the trunk and epicormic water sprouts at the base of the trunk may be visible.
It has been proven to be more effective to pre-treat trees that are not yet infested than to try to treat after infestation has occurred. This is because the “plumbing” of the tree may be so damaged that no matter what product is used, the tree might not be able to take up the pesticide. Changes in the tree’s appearance may be so subtle that the tree may fall into the unsalvageable state before this beetle has been detected.
There are two products proven to be most effective in the treatment of Emerald Ash Borer. The first is Imidacloprid which can be soil drenched around the base of the tree or injected into the tree. University studies show that we get, on average, 70% or greater control using Imidacloprid. The second product is called Tree-Age or Emmamectin Benzoate. This product can only be injected into the tree. University studies indicate a 90% or better control when using Tree-Age.
Call Arborx Tree Specialists today for a free consultation. We can provide you with the best service to save your Ash trees before they get infested with EAB or provide you with the alternatives if infestation has already begun.

 | | Quite simply, IPM considers everything from plant selection and integration, through environmental management to the ultimate question 'can we tolerate the effects of this pest without doing anything at all?'. If we can't, then what should we do? Obviously, often it is too late to consider plant selection; but we can influence and advise on maintenance and what if anything needs to be done as a control. We certainly do not want to kill every bug that comes near us or our plants. Many bugs are beneficial to us and even effectively control the ones that are less than beneficial. When control is necessary we will attempt to target only the particular pest we are confronted with and the control agent is not always chemical. Arborx Tree Specialists use the most up to date methods of treating pests.

 | | Vertical mulching is used to alleviate compact soil within root zones of trees and to deliver food to the root system. Two inch diameter holes are drilled in the ground every 3 to 4 feet from close to the trunk to the drip line or ends of the branches. The holes are then back filled with micro nutrients and fertilizers. Mycorrhizae, a fungus that helps promote root growth, can also be added for maximum root health. Typically, trees that are drought stressed or invaded by pests are prime examples of trees that need proper root maintenance.
Please contact ArboRX today for more information on our vertical mulching service.
