Wow! Spring!!!!! or The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. by Peter on April 7, 2010 at 8:46am Wow, those early bloomers have sprung to life. Lot's happening right now and I can't hope to mention them all. I love to see those Magnolia blooms. Also, although I love to see them, the pear/cherry blossoms seem to kick my immune system into overdrive.
Unfortunately lots of pests are kicking into action now too. Look out for Spruce Spider Mites and Boxwood Psyllid; their eggs have hatched. Gypsy Moth and Azalea Lace Bug eggs will be hatching soon and Leafminer adults will soon be emerging.

Eastern Tent Caterpillar by Peter on April 5, 2010 at 10:08pm Look out for these pests. The eggs have hatched already (last week of March/ first week of April) and some nests have been sighted. If you have them you will see their silky nests in the branch crotches of your trees. They are hungry and could totally defoliate your trees. What's Happening in My Yard? by Peter on March 30, 2010 at 8:17am Growing Degree Day's currently between 70 and 80 degrees F in our area.
