I noticed that soon after the winds of Ike hit, the leaves on one of my trees turned brown and fell. What was that all about?

Picture yourself going to the nursery to pick up your prized Maple. It looks beautiful; you paid a lot for that tree. You would do anything to ensure its health. You pick it up in Mason Ohio, drive to your home in Gatlinburg Tennessee. Five hours later you arrive home. What condition do you expect your new tree to be in? The leaves will have curled and almost closed, twigs, bark and buds will have dried up and will become very brittle. The root ball will be significantly drier. Your $300.00 tree just turned into a $20.00 tree in five hours!
